Training
During the season, training takes place at Seaforth Oval, Wakehurst Parkway, Seaforth on Wednesday evenings from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
Please ensure that you arrive a little early so you are ready for warm ups SHARP at 5.30pm so that all athletes can get the most value out of each session, and the coach doesn't have to repeat instructions each time another athlete arrives late.
Also please ensure you are not late for pick up as we also have homes and dinner to go to.
To assist the children in reaching their full potential, we will have 3 qualified coaches to teach the children proper technique in a variety of disciplines. They have over 40 years experience in Athletics coaching in various disciplines between them – they are: Mike Christie, Greg Constantine and Gary Malcolm.
The plan is to rotate certain events each week aligned to the centre 2 week program on a Saturday so you are training on an event that will take place that Saturday – please see 2 week program.
Due to the large number of children that typically attend training sessions, plus multiple events and age groups parent assistance is always required. It would be greatly appreciated if at least one parent helper accompanied each group. They can assist the coach with most activities including much needed "Crowd Control".
Parents do not need to have any special training to assist the coaches however if they do wish to gain the skills to be able to more actively participate at training then Seaforth LAC’s will pay for their enrolment in the “Introduction to Training Course” conducted regularly by the Little Athletics Association.
Note: Critical and as our coaches are semi voluntary it is appreciated your child display’s courtesy and respect towards them at ALL times!

Safety
Athlete’s safety is paramount – especially with multiple events and shot put and discus taking place – we encourage ALL parents at least for the next month as we will be under lights to stay at the oval – if you have to go please ensure you leave your name and contact number in the book provided!
Please also ensure children stay with the coaches and DON’T wander off!
What to bring
Until the weather improves ensure your child has something warm to wear (tracksuit, jumper), hat and bring a bottle of water. Its runners only – no spikes at training!
When the warm weather arrives then its normal “slip, slop and slap!
We will send out more info as we approach our 1st day of competition on the 18th September as the centre website will update all your results, PB’s. So great for the kids.

From our President
I would like to thank all the committee for their sterling efforts to get things moving this year especially being back at the oval for training after 4 years. A considerable amount of effort has been put in by all of them to ensure that this season is the best we have had and it’s good to see their efforts rewarded. I would urge you all to make sure you say “hi” to them whenever you come across them either at training or on the track on Saturdays and please feel free to ask any questions that you may have about the club or athletics in general.

And finally....
I would like to thank all you parents for joining our club. I hope your children have a great season and really enjoy athletics – so much so that they are really keen to come back next year (to our club of course !!)
